What is Islam ? ? !

Islam is the way of life for those who believe in God and want to live a life in worship and obedience to none but God. The reward is forgiveness from God and an everlasting life in the Heaven.
There are over one billion Muslims spread across the globe in all nationalities, languages and ethnic backgrounds. Islam was the religion of the first couple, Adam and Eve. It was also the religion of messengers of God like Noah, Abraham, Moses and Jesus. The essence of their message was the same:

Believe and obey the One true God and obey His messengers.

Jesus (peace be on him) was the second-last prophet of God. He foretold the coming of the last Prophet Muhammad (peace be on him). While the mission of the earlier messengers was generally limited to their own communities, prophet Muhammad's message and mission is universal and timeless till the end of this world.

Belief in Islam means

Belief in One God
belief in all of God's messengers
belief in all the books sent down to prophets of God. These books include Torah and Gospel. Only the Holy Quran exists in its original form, however.
belief in the existence of angels
belief in the Day of Judgement, Life after Death, Heaven and Hell.
belief in the Divine Decree or Predestination, its good and its bad.

Muslims are those who declare that there is no deity except Allah (arabic for God) and that Muhammad is His messenger. They submit fully in obedience to Allah and mould their lives according to the teachings of the Holy Quran and prophet Muhammad.

Try to Know

Q1: Is our existence a product of chance?

A simple look at the world around us is all it takes to understand what many never take time to reflect in explicitly prove the presence of a magnificent and unequalled author.

Some try deny His existence, relying on their invented theories and assumptions derived from unproven conjectures and guesses. They conjure principles that no rational mind can follow. For example, they say that our universe is “ cosmic miracle,“ a result of billions of years of random self-assembly. However, if they would come out of their house in the morning and find a new cars in their driveway, they would demand to know who put them there. Imagine if it was said to them: “No one put them there, in fact the parts just gathered from unknown places and assembled themselves overnight with no ones help. This is a result of a cosmic miracle “no one in his right mind could accept this answer. Indeed God us intellects that don’t allow us to believe such nonsense.

So if people can’t accept that parts of single car coming together randomly, then how can they believe that the entire universe was accomplished by such a  feat? From the sky full of stars and other visual wonders, to microscopic organisms we are still discovering, to the design and function of the organs of the human body, can one possibly believe that all of this is the result of a mere coincidence?

We understand quite clearly that, since this space you are reading was written, then there was a writer, even though you don’t see him. And for every speech there was a speaker, and every delicious dish has a cook behind it. So far every creation, including our very existence, there is indeed a creator.!

Q2: Why God created us? Or for what purpose am I here on earth?

Without knowledge of the purpose of life, human existence loses all meaning and consequently wasted , and the reward of an eternal life of happiness in the hereafter is completely destroyed. Therefore, it is of utmost importance that human being correctly answer the question “Why are we here”?

Human most often turn to other human being like themselves for the answer. However, the only place that clear and precise answers to these questions can be found is in the books of divine revelation. It was necessary that God reveal the purpose to man through His prophets, because human beings are incapable of arriving at the correct answers by themselves. All of the prophets of God taught their followers the answers to the question “Why did God created man”?

The prophet explained that when Allah created Adam, He took from him a covenant at a place called Namman on the 9th day of the 12th month. He then extracted from Adam all of his descendants who would be born until the end of the world, generation after generation, and spread them out before Him to take a covenant from them also. He spoke to them, face to face, making them bear witness that He was their Lord. Consequently, every human being is responsible for belief in God, which is imprinted on each and every soul. It is based on this inborn belief that Allah defined the purpose of humankinds creation which is “ibaddah”.

Q3: What is the meaning of “ibaddah”?

The concept of worship in Islam is misunderstood by many people including some Muslims. Worship is commonly taken to mean performing ritualistic acts such as prayers, fasting, charity, ect. This limited understanding of worship is only one part of the meanings of worship in Islam. That why the traditional definition of worship in Islam is comprehensive definition that includes almost everything in any individuals activities. The definition goes something like this, “Worship is an all inclusive term for all that God loves of external and internal saying and actions of a person.”

In other words, worship is every thing one says or does for the pleasure of Allah. This, of course includes rituals as well as beliefs, social activites, and personal contribution to the welfare of ones fellow human beings.

Islam looks at the individual as a whole. He is required to submit himself completely to Allah.

The natural result of this submission is that all ones activities should conform to the instruction of God, to whom the person is submitting . Islam being away of life, requires that its followers model their life according to its teaching in every aspect, religious or otherwise. This might sound strange to some people who think of religion as a personal relationship between the individual and God, having no impact on ones activities outside rituals. As a matter of fact Islam doesn’t think much of mere rituals when they are performed mechanically and have no influence on ones inner life because obedience to divine law is the key to success in this life and the next.

Q4: What is the Islamic view of Jesus?

The Islamic view of Jesus lies between two extremes. The Jews, who rejected Jesus as a Prophet of God, called him an impostor. Modern day Christians, on the other hand, consider him to be the Son of God and worship him as if he is the Creator of the Heavens and the Earth. Islam considers Jesus to be one of the great prophets of God. Muslims hold Jesus in very high esteem, as well as all of the prophets of God.

Non-Muslims may be surprised to find that Jesus is mentioned in several verses of the Quraan. The Quraan highlights the important aspects of Jesus' birth, his mission, and his ascension to heaven.

Q5: What is the story of Jesus birth?

When Mary became a woman, the Angel Gabriel appeared to her as a man, bringing her the news of a son. We read the following dialogue in the Quraan between Mary and the angel:" Then we sent to her our angel, and he appeared before her as a man in all respects. She said, "I seek refuge from thee with (Allah) Most Gracious (come not near) if thou dost fear Allah. "He said, "Nay, I am only a messenger from thy Lord (to announce) to thee the gift of a pure son."

She said: "How shall I have a son, seeing that no man has touched me, and I am not unchaste?"

He said, "So (it will be). Thy Lord saith, That is Easy for Me: And (We want) to appoint him as a Sign unto men and a Mercy from Us. It is a matter decreed."  Quraan 19:17-21

Q6: Is Jesus the son of God?

One of the main differences that have arisen between Christianity and Islam is the status of Jesus as the Son of God. From the above verses it is clear that Muslims and Christians are in agreement about the miraculous Virgin Birth of Jesus. However, does a man being born from a virgin really mean that he is the begotten son of the Creator? Jesus is not the first man to be created without a father. God say in the Quraan:

" Truly the likeness of Jesus in Allah's sight is the likeness of Adam. He created him of dust, then (He) said to him, "Be!" and he was. (This is) the truth from your Lord, so be not of those who doubt"

Quraan 3: 59-60

So in  Gods view, the Creation of Jesus is no different than the Creation of Adam. When God wants to create something, ?He only says "Be!" Muslims could easily argue that Adam has more right to be called the Son of God than Jesus, being that God created Adam with no mother or father! Also God created Eve, the first woman with no mother. God created Jesus with no father and God created you and me with a mother and a father. God can create anyway He pleases.

Q7: Who is the Jesus?

God has stated clearly in the Quraan, who exactly Jesus is : "O People of the scripture do not commit excess in your religion or say about Allah except the truth. The Messiah, Jesus, the son of Mary, was but a messenger of Allah and His word which He directed to Mary and a soul (created at a command) from Him. So believe in Allah and His messengers. And do not say, "Three", Desist! It is better for you. Indeed, Allah is one God. Exalted is He above having a son. To Him belongs whatever is in the heavens and whatever is on the earth. And sufficient is Allah as Disposer of affairs."  Quraan 4:171
